I was invited to photograph the Evening at the Market in collaboration with the Best of Toronto Blog by Nick Lee. I’ve helped Nick with many of their events, but this was my favorite of the year so far. The Evening at the Market transforms the St.Lawrence Market into an all-out all you can eat food fest. You can walk around to each vendor and get a generous sample of their own inspired dishes. The market also brought in such celebrity chefs as, chef Lynn Crawford, Chef Toben and Lora Kirk. The tenderness and flavor or Chef Lora Kirk’s Steak sampler had me in tears. However, it just wasn’t the delicious variety of food that the Evening at The Market that made it one of my favorite events. It was the environment, it was the the atmosphere. I really enjoyed the intimate feel and closeness that made the event what it was. The interaction with the business owners, entertainers, other media and the Foodies created a real sense of community that makes this an amazing local experience.
On top of all that the event helps contribute to Foodshare vision of providing good and healthy food. Much of the proceeds went to the Foodshare’s ‘Do Good’ program which is a non-profit organization. They work with local communities and schools to deliver healthy food and food education. More can be found at their website, Foodshare : http://www.foodshare.net/
And if you’re just taking a break from all the eating, Entertainment can be found everywhere, which included performances by Zero Gravity Circus, which included Fire Juggling and Acrobatics, The very lively and entertaining Yonge Kings Jazz Band and music by the beautiful DJ Amalia. What an amazing evening for a great cause! The Evening at the Market left me stomach ridiculously satisfied and so full that I passed out instantly when I got home. Thanks for the great event guys!
